Part of this service is producing a Health and Safety Manual, the purpose of which is to help you as the employer to fulfill your legal duties regarding Health and Safety Law.  The manual will contain your Health and Safety Policy, risk assessments, COSHH assessments, training information plus a variety of other relevant documentation relating to your Health and Safety.

Policy Writing

As an employer you are required under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 to have a Health and Safety Policy. If you have five or more employees your Policy must be in writing.

The Health and Safety Policy sets out your general approach, objectives and arrangements you have put in place for managing Health and Safety. It is a unique document that says who does what, when and how.

A policy will only be effective if acted upon and followed by you and your employees.

Accident Investigation

We can assist with an effective investigation which requires a methodical, structured approach.  Findings of the investigation will form the basis of an action plan to prevent the accident or incident from happening again and for improving your overall management of risk.

Findings will also point to areas of your risk assessments that need to be reviewed.

Risk Assessments

Risk Assessments are important for protecting your workers and your business, as well as complying with the law. It helps you focus on the risks that really matter in your workplace – the ones with the potential to cause real harm.

In many instances, straightforward measures can readily control these risks.

The law does not expect you to eliminate all risk, but you are required to protect people as far as ‘reasonably practicable’.

Risk assessments need to be written in house but we can give plenty of advice and assistance with these including use of templates.

COSHH Assessments

Using chemicals or other hazardous substances at work can put people’s health at risk, so the law requires you as an employer to control exposure to hazardous substances to prevent ill health.

You have to protect both employees and others who may be exposed by complying with the Regulations by carrying out COSHH assessments on all chemicals used within your business.

We can assist with carrying out these assessments for you which are documented and included in your Health and Safety manual.

CHAS & Constructionline

The benefits of being compliant with Health and Safety assessment schemes enable businesses to:

  • Demonstrate a level of compliance with Health & Safety law
  • Avoid duplication of effort by reducing the need to submit multiple Health & Safety Questionnaires and applications to clients

  • Enable the health and safety elements of Constructionline application to be complied with
  • Offer opportunities to secure new and larger commercial contracts
