Do you have a Health and Safety Policy for your business?
This really is the starting point, as it identifies so many different areas within the business.
So where to start? There are three elements to your Health & Safety Policy.
Number one; the Statement of Intent – what you’re intending to do to keep people safe at work.
Number two; the Organization – whose who within the business and what responsibilities do they have.
Number three; the Arrangements – this is a much larger section and goes into each of the different areas such as risk assessments, COSHH, equipment, training, first aid and fire and lots more different areas.
You need to make sure everything’s documented, and also that your employees have had a copy and have read and understood it.
It’s also a good idea to get them to sign to say that they have had a copy of your Health and Safety Policy.
